Before You Buy Hosting

by SEO Expert on January 16, 2011

Putting together a website can be scary, especially if you are new to web development and projects like it. Many newbies are scared of the process, especially when they don’t have anybody to help them. Trying to build your own website can even be risky! Deciding who gets to know what about you is important and you need to exercise extreme caution when you make the decision. Starting your project the right way is important and that is why you should start by joining a well known and highly revered web hosting company. How do you choose between all of the different web hosting companies out there? By the way, if you’re in need of a new hosting account, I use and recommend Blue Host, be sure to check out our Blue Host review.

Before you start looking at web hosting, figure out the size and the scope of your project. How much space your site will use and how many people will be visiting it are both important factors to consider before you look for hosting. Figuring out things like this will help you better define your hosting search. A good example of this is that if you think you will immediately see a bunch of traffic on your site as soon as you put it up, you’ll want to find hosting that offers lots of bandwidth for reasonable pricing. Finding a provider to give you the server space you need for good rates is also important, especially if your site will be large and include lots of graphics and images. If, on the other hand, your plan is to create a small and simple website that doesn’t need a lot of extra stuff, you won’t need the extensive packages that other web developers are after. In addition to saving searching time, planning your project now will save you time building and launching as well. Ask as many questions as you can think of. Call or contact every company that you might purchase hosting from. Ask to speak with a customer service representative. Forget using any company that won’t let you talk to a real person! Do not share any information with a company that will not allow you to have a conversation with a live person who represents that company. When a company does not allow users to reach customer service agents through actual conversations (to prove that the customer service agent is legitimate), they are almost always scams. No matter what the size of the company-legitimate operations have live people working for them. Be wary of any company without live representatives!

Ask the web site owners you trust who they use. Reviews on forums and official websites can easily be doctored-the best source of non solicited advice is your site developer friends! Don’t be afraid to ask for help; most website owners are happy to help new site builders decide which hosting options are best for them. Some site developers will even let you share their server space while you figure out which hosting options are best for your project. There are many site builders who earn money by selling server space on their accounts for small fees. To get a good deal find a site owner you trust and buy some server space from them.

There are plenty of requirements that you can use to rank the hosting companies you are looking at and choose the one that is right for you. You might want more customer service. You might want to protect against down time. You might need lots of space. You might have a very tight budget. Make sure to remember all of these things when it comes time for you to make your final decision.

Take as much time as you need to take to really investigate all of the companies that you might use to host your website. It is better to spend more time to be sure than to spend less time and get taken advantage of! Last but not least, be sure to look to see if there are any current Blue Host coupon codes.

Appreciating the time and effort you put into your site and in depth information you provide. It’s nice to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same out of date rehashed material. Fantastic read! I’ve bookmarked your site and I’m adding your RSS feeds to my Google account.
